From March 13 until June 3, I was home from work & staying home.
These are the top 5 tv shows I watched while staying home & have watched since going back to work. Some of these are traditional television shows & others are from streaming platforms. These are shows that I watched in their entirety.
What We Do In The Shadows - This is my favorite show right now! It is a spin off of the movie What We Do In The Shadows & is in the same vampiric mockumentary universe. The show focuses on a whole new set of vampire roommates in a scarier setting: Staten Island. Through the episodes you see different aspects of the vampires Nandor, Nadja, Laszlo, Colin Robinson after lives, and the life of the human familiar Guillermo. It is such a hilarious show that is honestly so wonderful & charming yet sometimes horrifying.
Flower Fight - This horticulture competition is a wholesome reality show on netflix that is a must see! Ten pairs of florists, sculptors and garden designers face off in a friendly floral fight to see who can build the biggest, boldest garden sculptures. Co-host Natasia Demetriou is hilarious & a familiar face to fans of the What We Do In The Shadows show! Watch it & then follow the contestants on instagram for some awesome floral content.
The Circle - This pre-COVID19 isolation reality show was so timely! It is based on the UK show of the same name. A funny & unique take on the reality competition roommate show, where contestants each get their own studio apartment in an apartment complex BUT they only contact fellow contestants through a closed social media called "The Circle." The USA version is surprisingly wholesome & it is fun to see those friendships form. I won't lie, i'm a bit obsessed with this show & have watched it multiple times since the premiere. I have also watched & enjoyed the French & Brazilian versions.
McMillions - My favorite documentary series is HBO's McMillions. This six part documentary series delves into the con that rigged a decade of McDonald's Monopoly game. It was so interesting to see how the investigation unfolded & the complexity of the con. I found it intersting that the FBI office working on it was right here in Jacksonville, Florida!
Avenue 5 - I discovered this HBO series at the perfect time: right when I had to start staying home. Set 40 years in the future, Avenue 5 is a sci-fi comedy that follows the various people on a luxury space cruise ship as they deal with unexpected technical difficulties onboard. I loved the cast, comedy, and switch between those on the ship & those back on Earth.
