From March 13 until June 3, I was home from work & staying home.
These are the top 5 movies I watched while staying home. I rated all of these as 5 star movies!
Artemis Fowl - Adapted from the beloved middle grade series by Eoin Colfer, This fantasy film for all ages focuses on 12-year-old genius Artemis Fowl. He is a descendant of a long line of criminal masterminds, and finds himself in a battle against a race of powerful underground fairies who may be behind his father's disappearance. The movie is on Disney+, I really hope it comes out in theaters so we can see it on the big screen!
The Booksellers -this documentary delves into the world of rare books & independent bookstores. For my librarian-art historian-book nerd heart, this was perfection! I even made a list of places I want to go to when we can travel again. I watched it via my local movie theatre Sun-Ray Cinema's movies on demand program they did online where I streamed a movie via their link & gave the profits to the movie theatre.
Mirror Mirror - I rewatched this 2012 film & I am so glad I did. This Snow White retelling shows us both Snow White's & Queen Clementianna's view. I love the visuals of this movie from the set design by production designer Tom Foden, to the costuming by costume designer Eiko Ishioka, and cinematography by Brendan Galvin)! I really loved this movie & I think Tarsem Singh did a great job directing. I watched this film on Netflix & had such a fun time doing so.
Emma - The latest Austen adaptation, Emma focuses on the titular selfish but well-meaning character in 1800s England, as she meddles in the love lives of her friends. I really enjoy previous Emma adaptations & this film didn't change the trend. They did a great job overall led by director Autumn de Wilde. I especially loved the cinematography by cinematographer Christopher Blauvelt, costumes by Alexandra Byrne, and production design by Kave Quinn. This was the last film I saw in in a movie theater on March 14 & I am glad it was a great film.
What We Do In The Shadows - This vampire mockumentary is one of my all-time favorite films! 4 Vampire housemates cope with the complexities of modern life in New Zealand. I watched it with my mom & sister & they enjoyed it, though I wish they were obsessed like I am! I do wholeheartedly suggest you also watch the short film and the tv show, all of the same name. The tv show has different characters & will be featured in a future post.
